Official logo of of the Holy Father's visit to Britain

I found this via a recent tweet on Editor's briefing...

Perhaps it would be good to pray that hearts will be open to hear, really hear, the message of the Holy Father to the Church, and to people of good will, in the UK when he visits in September.

  1. I do not mean to put a downer on the Holy Father's visit but it is not a very good logo. Perhaps others think differently?

  2. I would contrast this with the logo used for Pope John Paul's visit in 1982 which in a simple but strong graphic combined the cross motifs of the Union flag with the crossed keys of St Peter/the papacy. It was clear, bold, effective and you could see immediately what it was about.

  3. The choice of artist for the logo poses difficult questions, too...
